What’s your job?
I am the Media Relations Officer at Idaho Housing and Finance Association, where I do external and internal communications. I started as a journalist in Spain (I tried it all: print, radio and TV) and when I moved to the US, after working for a Spanish-language paper, I decided to go to grad school and change sides. I received a master’s in PR and worked a few years as a PR coordinator for the university before moving to Boise.
What do you do for fun?
For my “quiet” fun I enjoy reading.
What was your first “real” job?
Writer and designer for a small business paper in Madrid.
Awards and accolades?
The one I am most proud of is an award I received as a mentor at Washington State University, where I directed the work of three public relations interns every year. One of the students nominated me, and the gesture really made all the effort I put into creating a good learning environment for them worth it.
Any interesting or milestone projects/experiences you’d like to share?
When I moved to the States I thought I’d have to reinvent myself professionally and change careers, but this is really the land of opportunity and I am very happy that I am still doing what I love most: working in the communications field.
Why CCC?
I am new to Boise and this is the perfect organization to get to know other professionals in the area who share a passion about communications.
